Choco Rice Krispies Treats

712009-082-12There are certain things that are taken for granted in some parts of the world, but very hard to come across in others. Take rice krispies treats, for example. You got the rice krispies, the marshmallow cream and the butter. How hard can it be, right? Well, if you live in North America, not so much. If you live in Europe ( read Croatia ), hm…things can get sticky. And not in a good way. To make these classic American treats one really does need connections in the new world. So, when W surprised me with a jar of marshmallow cream, I knew exactly what I was making. ‘Cause, what else am I going to do with liquid marshmallow?

Here’ s  a recipe if you, Europeans ( read Croatians ), ever get a hold of some marshmallow cream and have no idea what to do with it.

5 cups rice krispies ( I could only find Kellogg’s Choco Krispies. Who knew that finding crispies would turn into a wild goose chase? Ah… )

1 1/2 cup marshmallow cream

1/2 cup butter

Melt the butter and the marshmallow cream in a pan and add the rice krispies. Transfer to an oiled baking pan, flatten the surface and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Cut in squares.

Happy crunchin’!
